About SIM Card Registration
The Communications Authority is the regulatory body for mobile operators in Kenya.
It has directed that each mobile operator must register its users’ SIM details before the deadline set by the Government.
This is in line with the Kenya Information and Communications Regulations, 2015.
Any active SIM cards not registered by the deadline will be disconnected.
The deadline to register all SIM cards in Kenya was initially set as April 15, 2022 before being extended to October 15, 2022.
To that end, most mobile operators now have a system to make it easier for their customers to register their SIM card online.
For example, Safaricom launched a portal to register your Safaricom line online.
However, you can also do so by visiting Safaricom shops or at an M-Pesa agent.
The portal is however easier for those in remote parts or those who want to complete the process within the comfort of their homes or offices.
One can also check and update their information through mySafaricom app.
Feel free to share this complete guide with other Safaricom subscribers so they can register their SIM card online and easily.
